I started this blog to post recipes of healthier, lightened up versions of desserts me and my family enjoy to eat to show that a few quick and easy swaps makes a huge difference. I’ve always enjoyed baking my entire life and after seeing all the bad (but delicious) stuff that goes into cookies, cakes, pies, etc. I realized there must be a better way to get that sweet fix. As I began to make healthier swaps I found out that you can make better for you versions of desserts without compromising flavor. After this moment of discovery I knew I had to share all my secrets so everyone can know that healthy eating can be delicious too.
Besides baking, I’m an avid health nut who’s very into nutrition and what foods are the best source of vitamins and minerals to fuel your body. My family has a history of heart disease, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, high blood sugar, and cancer and in order to prevent those diseases it’s especially important to eat right and exercise. Not many people realize that eating right is a huge life saver when it comes to battling chronic diseases that can progress to fatality. The reason for this blog is not only to make the little things in life better, but to show how easy and delicious healthier eating can be.
On top of being obsessed with getting the right ratio of macro-nutrients a day, being lactose intolerant is a huge reason why I ever started cooking in the first place. Since I’ve eliminated all kinds of dairy I found myself cooking more and more separate meals to eat while my family enjoyed cheesy goodness. Although I am still a beginner, I’ve learned a lot about food through experience and once you stop eating dairy and other gluttonous, fattening food you’ll realize how much more energized, alive, and alert you feel. This blog is sort of like a personal journey I’ve taken throughout the food world and how my relationship with food has developed for the better.
